Choosing a format

The Format picker at the top of Export Configuration decides what shape the file takes. It defaults to your country’s tax-agency layout, so if all you want is your tax file, nothing changes.

Your agency format

ATO myDeductions in Australia, an agency-labelled Tax Deduction CSV elsewhere. Built for lodging.

Accountant Ledger

One row per transaction, flat. The shape accounting software expects on import.

Profit & Loss Summary

Income and expenses totalled by category, with your net position.

Accountant Ledger

A single header row and one row per transaction — no banner rows, no blank separators. That flat rectangle is what an importer needs, and it is the file to hand a bookkeeper. Columns: date, type, description, merchant, category, tax category, deductible, business use %, tax amount, reference, debit and credit. Where a line lands on the activity statement itself is decided by its tax treatment, which is set on the category or the transaction rather than in the export.
Amounts are split across Debit and Credit rather than being signed in one column. That is the ledger convention, and it also keeps every amount a plain positive number — a leading minus sign is escaped in CSV files as a defence against formula injection, which would turn the figure into text that accounting software will not read as a number.

Profit & Loss Summary

Income and expenses totalled by category, largest first, with total income, total expenses and your net position.
The same statement is available on screen under Tax Filing → Reports, with a GST basis toggle and a Deductible column beside each expense category; see Reports. The depreciation schedule and the Australian TPAR live on the same page. This is a cash-basis statement — it totals what actually moved in the period. The file states this in a Basis row so nobody has to infer it. It is not adjusted for stock on hand, because Fin does not hold opening and closing stock values; if you carry meaningful stock, your accountant will make that adjustment from your own figures. See Tracking cost of goods sold.

What applies to every format

Your date range, row exclusions and category selections carry across unchanged — switching format changes the shape of the file, never which transactions are in it.
